Tequila on My Mind: Recipes for River Hill Wine and Spirits's Small Batch Tequila

Once again, the River Hill Wine & Spirits has knocked it out of the park with a small batch of tequila by Maestro Dobel Diamante. It’s a blanco (white) tequila aged in french oak barrels. This tequila is full of nose and flavor notes. Did you know that tequila has twice as many notes as a wine? This 100% agave blanco has beautiful citrus notes and has a smooth finish perfect for making cocktails that highlight it’s flavor. I have four recipes for you but first a guide to tasting tequila.

Here’s a guide to tasting tequila.

  1. You should taste a good tequila in a narrow glass like a champagne glass, not a shot glass.

  2. Evaluate the color from clear blancos to dark and golden reposados and anejos.

  3. Sniff your glass, and note what your first impressions on. If your nose is too close to the tequila you’ll only small the alcohol and that impression will stay with you.

  4. Like with with, smell again. You may get hits of citrus, fruits or florals.

  5. Taste small sips and note how the tequila starts and how it finishes.

Here are some of the drinks I made with this fabulous tequila.
